PRISM

Personal Relationship Improvement with Social Media

An evidence-based experience supporting individuals who have developed less than healthy social media consumption habits that provides a reflective digital platform to recalibrate online behaviors for enhanced mental well-being and healthier digital interactions

It’s about agency.

The intervention focuses on enhancing agency and empowering individuals to manage their digital lives more consciously.

It asks, “What do YOU think a healthy relationship with this technology looks like?”

The Product

Mediated through an online web-based platform, participants take part in a four-week challenge, reflecting on their habits, setting goals, and tracking progress while learning about the neurobiology and addictive aspects of social media.

Designed for individuals who have developed less than healthy relationships with social media, PRISM offers a comprehensive view of social media's impact on mental well-being by leveraging education, reflection, and agency for positive, self-directed change.

PRISM empowers participants to reflect on their social media use and make informed choices to enhance mental well-being.

The Research

PRISM has a proven record of alleviating social media addiction, improving participants' relationship with social media and enhancing their ability to focus, learn, and self-reflect.

The team at Post-Internet Project has implemented, tested, received feedback, and refined PRISM for almost five years.

Comparing data results over time based on the Bergen Social Media Addiction Scale, we can confidently attest to the efficacy of PRISM in reducing adolescents’ social media addiction.

We utilize agency and intentionality, exploring the impact of specific social media behaviors on an individualized basis. Moving beyond the overly-simplistic dichotomy of active versus passive social media use, our approach considers the unique characteristics and habits of each person. This approach aims to provide a more holistic understanding of the complex relationship between social media consumption and mental health outcomes.

Read the full methodologies in the document below. We’re always open to answering questions and explaining how we conduct our research at Post-Internet Project.
